Natural Skin Care: Alternatives for every Product

by Valerie DeVette

Natural skin care is as old as mankind. In the past few hundred years, skin care has become less and less natural and more chemical based. However, it is once again shifting towards its natural origins.

Home remedies for skin care products and skin treatments abound on the Internet and are passed on from friend to friend. The reason that these recipes persist in time is because they actually do work. The only negative aspect, if you want to look at it in that manner, is that natural products take longer to show definite results than do tradition products.

Homemade Skin Care Products

Natural skin care doesn't have to be expensive. As a matter of fact, most home remedies are made with products that you can easily find in your kitchen or backyard.

And if you look close enough you can usually find a natural alternative to most traditional products. Sunblocks and sunscreens, however, are more challenging. I suggest that you purchase the traditional brands as recreating SPF in your home is quite difficult.

Natural fruits, fruit juices, and infusions can be the basis of most homemade facial cleansers. If you want to treat oily skin you can use citric fruits, however, normal and dry skin requires a more gentle touch in which case you can use herbal infusions.

Toners are made using essential oils. The biggest benefit of making your own toner is that you can make sure that it does not contain alcohol or other irritating additives. You can also test which essential oils are right for your skin.

The easiest product to find is probably an exfoliating product. You can use anything from abrasive particles (sugar and salt) to fruits and dairy products. The more sensitive your skin is, the creamier your exfoliant should be.

Making your own moisturizer is a bit more challenging because it requires heating some of the ingredients. In cases like this it might be best to just buy a natural moisturizer that contains the natural ingredients you need.

How to make Homemade Skin Care Products

If making your own products seems like something you'd like to try, here are a few recipes for some natural skin treatments.

To make a cleanser for oily skin, process one kiwi fruit. Add 2 tbsp of plain yogurt, one tbsp of orange water, 1 tbsp of almond oil, 1 tbsp of honey and 1 tsp of finely ground almond. Keep processing this mixture until it is thick and creamy.

To use, add 2 drops of your favorite, citrus essential oil and apply to your skin. Massage gently for a few minutes and rinse with warm water.

To make a toner just place 1 to 3 drops of your favorite essential oil (or oils) to 8 oz of floral water. The mixture should be placed in a sterile bottle, shaken, and then applied to your face using a cotton ball.

Bio skin care is a recent trend can be better describes with 4 simple words: all natural skin care. If you are interested in adopting this type of lifestyle you can either take the time out to make your own products or simply purchase natural skin care products, like BIOSKINCARE cream, that come fully prepared. This natural product is just as gentle as homemade products and can be much more effective.
